THE LAST OF THE BELGIAN VIDEOS...

...AND SOME PHOTOS FROM A FUTURE FILM!

Hello beasties!

This week we're going to begin with the links to the third of the three Belgian mini-episodes of SHY YETI ON LOCATION... After a rather slow start to editing this series I'm rather pleased to have been able to finish the last two videos in one weekend...

SHY YETI'S BELGIAN POSTCARDS is the third of three mini-episodes from Belgium; this one mainly coming from Brussels - with just a fleeting visit to Ghent. This video features poems from Paul Chandler (a.k.a. Shy Yeti's) 3rd collection, ANOTHER PATHETIC ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT, COMPUTER DATING, THINGS AIN'T WHAT THEY USED TO BE (PT 1) and SOON ON YOUR WAY - there is also still time for plenty of yeti daftness! This film was recorded in early October 2012 with both Paul and Calum behind the cameras. Music is by Luca and Spooky Yeti and the video was edited by Paul Chandler. Thank you to Anthony A for showing us around Brussels. More yeti films will be loaded up soon. The content of this film, including all poems are Copyright Paul Chandler, 2013.

As I mentioned a post or so ago I'm working on a new episode, SHY YETI BOTTLES SUMMER - TWO!! and next up I intend to share some photos with you from it...

SHY YETI BOTTLES SUMMER - TWO!!
PHOTO GALLERY...

Our next episode dates back to July 2012 and is the earliest series that I still had to edit of all those left over from last year. I chose this one particularly because it's the sequel to a video that I released back in late summer 2012 - and the idea of summer and "bottling" some of it seems particularly relevant in March when a lot of the country is still encountering snow! This winter never seems to end... Still, hopefully it's on its way out now... Almost! SHY YETI BOTTLES SUMMER - TWO!! was filmed in a couple of locations, near me in Weybridge and also down in West Sussex near Arundel. This episode contains a couple of short stories and a poem from my forthcoming collection, NOT AS SHY AS I WAS - which is due out later this year.

Next week, we're going to look ahead to what's going on over Easter... I'm not entirely sure myself as some of my plans have changed; but I guess I'll probably film a new episode whilst I'm out and about; probably using ARE WE THERE, YETI? as the theme.

SHY YETI BOTTLES SUMMER - TWO!! should also be ready for posting next week too! I know... I know... As far as Easter presents go you'd rather have had a chocolate egg - but I'm sorry, that's the best I can offer... Anyway, you're looking a bit chubby, maybe skip the chocolate eggs, this year? No? Okay... It's your choice! *swallows 12 pies one after another*

That's about it for now...

Yeti hugs,

Paul xx

PS I don't think I've posted them before - but the book covers are the final ones used for the ARE WE THERE, YETI? project.

A YETI IN BRUSSELS...

THE FIRST PART OF A NEW VIDEO SERIES FROM BELGIUM...

Hello beasties!

I'm a little late posting on the blog this week, which is mainly because I've been struggling with the new series of SHY YETI ON LOCATION which was filmed in Brussels and Ghent back in early October 2012. Originally it was going to have been two 12 minute episodes - but having had constant problems with the first episode I have decided to chop it into three... So this the episode that is being loaded up today!

A YETI IN BRUSSELS is the first of three mini-episodes from Belgium. As the title suggests, this one's from Brussels, the 2nd comes from Ghent and the 3rd will be whatever is left! This video features poems from Paul Chandler (a.k.a. Shy Yeti's) 3rd collection, THIRD TIME LUCKY: GOOD HUG, HERBAL TEABAGS, UNFULFILLED and INSTRUCTIONS TO LIFE - there is also still time for a yeti dance! This film was recorded in early October 2012 with both Paul and Calum behind the cameras. Music is by Luca and Spooky Yeti and the video was edited by Paul Chandler. Thank you to Anthony A. for showing us around Brussels. The second of these mini episodes will be loaded up soon. The content of this film, including all poems are Copyright Paul Chandler, 2013.

The new mini-episode can be viewed at the following links:

The original two part version of this series was going to have been entitled PART 1: HUSTLE BUSTLES IN BRUSSELS (AND GHENT!) and PART 2: HOW IT WENT IN GHENT (AND BRUSSELS!) I had intended that each episode would have had a bit from each of the two cities that I visited, mainly because it mostly rained whilst I was in Brussels, whilst we had a lovely day in Ghent.

Still, it wasn't to be... I'm usually good at working out what the problem is when processing these videos, but on this occasion I was completely stumped! Sometimes it's because the video's too long or there are two many complicated effects - but this wasn't the case this time - I'm just not sure what the problem was, so I decided to that it would be best to split the material up into three and just present it that way.

Hopefully the second episode won't take too long and, as mentioned earlier, a third episode will comprise of footage left over once the Brussels and Ghent episodes are finished - I certainly have a few more things from Brussels to share.

After these mini episodes are completed I'm either going to edit the Venice two parter or the second of my SHY YETI BOTTLES SUMMER films. As some of you will know I filmed far more yeti films last year than I was able to edit, which means that I've not really filmed a great deal in the first couple of months of 2013 - although I am working on a wintery summer special for posting in July/August time.

PHOTO GALLERY FROM THE NEW EPISODES

The following photos appear in the next couple of SHY YETI ON LOCATION episodes, as taken in October 2012 in Brussels and Ghent. I posted a few last October on return from the trip, which can still be viewed at: www.thedaffypoet.blogspot.co.uk/2012_10_07_archive.html

That's about it for now... Next week there will hopefully be another mini-episode and I'm going to share with you another piece from my new collection, ARE WE THERE, YETI? which is out now and available on www.lulu.com !!

More soon!

Yeti hugs,

Paul xx

ALL THE BUSTLE OF BRUSSELS...

Hello beasties!!

So... How did Brussels go? What did you see? Did you write much? Did you film much? Did you take many, many photos - mostly of yourself?

Yes and yes and yes and yes... YES!!! However, that said, I did very little actual writing, although I am playing around on my Blackberry with a fair few new titles, first verses etc.

Anyway! Flatmate Calum and I had a great time - much filming was achieved and despite it looking like the trip was going to be a bit of a washout, it actually cleared up Saturday afternoon and was glorious on Sunday in time for our trip to Ghent. That said, I did forge ever onward during the wet parts of the trip too - recording a couple of poems in one of the parks. The weather was also more cheerful on Monday before we returned, so hopefully once edited it might actually seem quite a sunny episode. The same thing happened back in April when Dominic and I visited Dusseldorf, it rained on and off on the first day or so - but then the weather was marvellous for the whole day that we spent in Cologne!

Enough about the weather. I've a few photos to share in a moment, but I'm trying to decide whether I should keep under my hat which poems I read... Hmm... Well, perhaps I will tell you - but perhaps not quite yet, as I doubt whether these episodes will be edited until closer to Christmas as there is still quite a backlog. What I will definite say is that all the poems that I read were from the forthcoming 10th anniversary release of THIRD TIME LUCKY and that I think I read about nine of them; well, they are pretty short! There is definitely enough footage for two episodes - that said I really ought to go and back up the footage...

*dashes off*

There we are - all done! Now, as promised, I should probably share a few of the photos from the trip with you as I probably don't have a lot more to report this week...

Before I go, a little more about the illustration project between Adam M Botsford and I, which I mentioned in my last post. These illustrations are for the next collection, NOT AS SHY AS I WAS and Adam has posted versions of them on his blog.

Next week I will hopefully have a new video to share with you and possibly even another Beargrrrian interview...

More soon!

Yeti hugs,

Paul xx

BRUSSELS SPROUTS IDEAS...

Howdy beasties!

This week I'm quite excited as I have two filming trips coming up very soon. As of last weekend I decided where I want to be for my birthday in November and have booked a few days for Dominic and I in Venice. You would be correct in thinking that I spent a few days there as recently as November 2010, but it is one of my favourite holiday destinations and also, as some of you may remember, I did manage to delete almost all of the photos from my last trip! No! Not on purpose... I was being a stupid, clumsy pawed idiot yeti when that happened! So, I need to go back and do Venice justice as all that remained of that trip was about 3 or 4 minutes that I filmed just before I had to catch the coach back to the airport.

That remaining footage appears here during SHY YETI VERSUS AUTUMN - PART 2: http://youtu.be/6R928Bs4Ekw

Anyway, the Venice trip isn't for another five or six weeks - but we have another one coming up much sooner! Yes, it's the Brussels trip - with hopefully a quick trip to Ghent too! Not only do I have new Converse trainers but I also have a new camera to work with! Yes, a new camera! That said, I'm not sure I'll be taking it away with me - or may I'll take both, I haven't decided yet... Such confusion!

Although, I am aiming to get the next SHY YETI'S SEA-SIDE SHUFFLE episode up by next week, but on Friday 28th September I recorded a couple of stand-alone films as a test...

What test, you may ask?

Ah yes... Let me explain... I mentioned the new camera, right? Well, I also have a new laptop - AND a new camera... However it seems wise not to simply jump in the deep end by rushing into using them both without a little practice run behind the scenes. Actually, it's not a good idea to be jumping in the deep end with anything electrical! Both new purchases have quite a number of different features compared to my old tech - the laptop has different editing software and the camera lots of different functions. So rather than rush off to Brussels with them I wanted to film something short to try everything out. I'll probably take my old camera along too on our trip as making a film in some form or other is definitely the priority.

But what exactly am I going to read out there? I've read quite a lot of new material in videos over the last few months and so I feel that perhaps now is the time to keep any really new material until ARE WE THERE, YETI and NOT AS SHY AS I WAS are ready to be published. Some of my favourite pieces from those collections are already in yeti videos and the books aren't even out yet. So, I've pretty much decided that I should make my next two trips about the 10th anniversary of THIRD TIME LUCKY and I'd like to read things that I've not performed much from that collection.

So, as I say, I've been out and about filming with the new camera a couple of times already since the new camera arrived. I headed out to Green Park during lunch on Friday and recorded versions of CAFEINNE QUEEN and DJ DARLING, whilst avoiding getting mobbed by a rather frisky squirrel. Unfortunately the version of the first piece didn't come out as expected - it was quite a windy day and the sound was effected - but the second poem was fine. On Sunday I was out and about with friends in the Princes Risborough area and so I re-recorded CAFEINNE QUEEN and hopefully that came out fine. As I say, these poems will probably be posted at some stage as stand-alone pieces, not part of any longer video - editing them on the new laptop with new editing equipment is going to be hard enough as it is; but I'll get there. Meanwhile I intend to edit the backlog of episodes recorded over the summer on my old laptop with the old software, of which SHY YETI'S SEA-SIDE SHUFFLE - PART 2 is just one. Talking of which - here are some behind the scenes photos from the filming of that episode...

Now many people have asked me, what exactly is going on with the new album that you began recording last month? I lie, nobody has asked - but let's just pretend that they have. Ahem. Well, as I recorded the early tracks during the Summer break at our College and also have a lot of tracks to go through from the last gig so that I can include a few live tracks - I think I'll aim to complete recording in December during our College Christmas holidays. This way I can decide on a final track-listing before new year and then release it in January 2013.

Anyway, that's about it for now... Oh, except - did I mention that I'm going back to Venice for my birthday, this year? I did? Well, I just thought you might need reminding. hehe. Hoorah! More about that nearer the time - although it's only just over a month away! Gosh, I love that city...

More soon!

Yeti hugs,

Paul xx

PS I've just started working with an illustrator called Adam M Botsford on some drawings to go with some of the poems in the NOT AS SHY AS I WAS collection. The first poem that Adam is working on is a piece called BEE-SOTTED where I asked him to work on ideas for a "balloon-shaped bee..." The following link is from Adam's blog where he works on a number of possibilities.
