Hello beasties!
I had hoped to have the 10th anniversary edition of POETIQUETTE ready for May 2015, as it came out in May 2005, but due to being unwell it's now slightly delayed. All the same I'm hoping it'll be out by summer as its a particularly important collection for me, being the last of the first eight poetry volumes that I released prior to discovering www.lulu.com. This means that all my poetry to date is now available in one place - something that makes me happy.
This is another short post - sharing some photos from a recent walk; photos that I had meant to post back in April but which I forgot to share at the time. The photos are quite sunny and definitely trumpet the arrival of Spring - although we are now almost on our way to summer... Never mind - these photos are quite relaxing, whilst the poem that I'm including is pretty much about the opposite, concerned with "red tape" and things that tend to annoy us about life. Next time "red tape" gets in the way of your life just think of somewhere nice and peaceful - or better still - cut through the "red tape", jump on the train and go somewhere peaceful to recover!
Enough of such rebellious ideas... This poem was written on the 14th April 2005 and I'm not sure I've ever performed it live, although I'd be quite happy to in the near future.
So, enjoy the photos and the poems... Next time I am hoping that I will be able to share with you some photos from a little trip I hope to be making; I've had to curtail some of my gallivanting this year due to being unwell - but you can't completely keep a yeti down...
Take care - more soon,
Yeti hugs,
Paul xx
RED TAPE…
Red tape...
Please, don't despair...
In triplicate...
No time to spare!
Forms filled out;
Then interests wane!
Read by none...
Please, type again!
Email your fax back to Brazil...
Contact the dead –
You know the drill!
Poor dictation –
It’s protocol...
Life in shorthand –
Takes its toll!
Takes its toll!
Red tape...
Work piled high!
Loads to do, now –
Don't be shy!
Tick-box into –
An early grave…
Tow the line –
Don’t misbehave!
With paperwork that towers tall!
Would kill someone –
Now should it fall...
Yes, swaying gaily –
It teeters close...
Squashed office worker!
Pretty gross!
Pretty gross!
Red tape...
No common sense!
Complete loss of reason;
Could cause offence!
Born to achieve…
Please, lead the way…
Do what I do –
Not as I say!
Hot desk fiasco;
Tied in string...
Romantic friction!
Her latest fling!
Her latest fling!
Proactive striving…
Love your work…
You’re now the boss…
A first class jerk!!!
