MY CREATIVE EFFORTS FOR 2016...

Hello beasties!

Well, as advertised at the top of this post - this is going to be my review of the year... 2016 was certainly a lot busier than 2015 - partly due to my health being improved. I published my first new collection of poems and prose since 2013, not to mention some more script-books. I also held a poetry show, began a podcast and appeared on a number of other podcasters shows - I also returned to local radio on 3 different occasions. Let's look at it in more detail...

Late February into March was mostly busy with the promotion of A YETI WAY OF THINKING and posts included discussions on the prose and the poetry of the collection, including a preview of one of the pieces - SANDY FROM THE FUTURE - but there were also a couple of new pieces, one prose, one poetry... I also wrote a very daft script in one sitting on Easter Bank Holiday Monday, 28th March 2016, which involved Shy Yeti selling a slightly dull idea for a musical...

APRIL 2016

I'd been busy writing more Shy Yeti sketches and had also completed a number of short prose pieces - at the same time I wanted to promote my next book - so decided that April would see me posting twice a week. The first of these posts would be about the new book and the second would have a new piece of prose, a poem or a sketch. As far as the promotion for KENSINGTON GORE - SEASON ONE was concerned I released posts about the characters, the plot, some behind-the-scenes photos etc. - although I pushed the actual publishing of the script-book into May, so that I didn't have another new book out so soon after A YETI WAY OF THINKING...

May saw the release of KENSINGTON GORE - SEASON ONE... I'd also been working on other posts during April, behind-the-scenes and now had them ready to post. I didn't post twice a week for every week in May - although on Friday the 13th I decided to write something on the day, short notice - but then posted as normal on Sunday just the same.

I also posted the pilot episode of my new show THE SHY LIFE PODCAST, although I hadn't really intended to make anything available until the autumn. However, I decided to put together a pilot episode as part of my learning experience. It was recorded between Saturday 14th and Monday 16th May 2016. The second episode was recorded between Thursday 19th and Wednesday 24th May 2016 and the third between the 21st and the 26th of May 2016 (with the majority recorded on the 26th May!) I won't list the podcasts here amongst my writing - but will group them together in a separate section at the end. I really ought to have made note of all of my writing that I have included during episodes - but I think that will have to be compiled at a later date.

JUNE 2016

June began with a holiday in Amsterdam where I wasn't too well - but I still managed to do writing during that trip, not to mention getting a podcast recorded; in fact I released four new episodes during this month. On the weekend of the 11th and 12th of June I even had a special yeti weekend where I released two blog-posts - a new prose piece - a new podcast episode (Ep 4) and a script that featured podcaster, Toppie Smellie.

JULY 2016

July was the month that I wrote the first episode of "THE UNTITLED SCRIPT" as it has provisionally been christened. It was a project that I didn't speak a lot about at the time, which I am writing with my old friend, Nick Goodman - where we are each writing a chapter/part, alternately. I also had my first (and last Poetry Café show of 2016, due to the venue being refurbished). At the end of the month I headed down to Lyminge in Kent for a week of much anticipated creativity.

I continued working on my second episode of "THE UNTITLED SCRIPT", having received Nick's episode the previous month. Meanwhile, I focused my attention on finishing THE BEAST OF FRIENDS movie script as I want it finished before I go to Venice in November. I also kept busy with the blog and with posting new podcast episodes - not to mention recording a number of new ones; especially those that I recorded down in Kent and Luxembourg.

I released 45 episodes of my new podcast THE SHY LIFE PODCAST between late May and December 2016, not to mention guesting on two episode of LOTSL and two episodes of THE SMELLCAST. I also left messages on a number of other shows during the year namely, BIG FATTY ONLINE, VERA SPEAKS... FOR REAL, GREETINGS FROM NOWHERE and TASTES LIKE BURNING (TLB). This is our long-promised BEAST OF FRIENDS "missing adventure" should be out in January or February, at latest.

The second season of this series should be ready in the Spring.

KENSINGTON GORE - SEASON 2

The second season of this series should also be ready in the Spring.

It should also be noted that I have done first drafts of a third and fourth season of HOT STUFF and am currently writing Season Five. I have also done first drafts of a third season of KENSINGTON GORE and am working on the 4th season of that series. I'll be continuing to get those later seasons into shape and the third seasons of both may well also be released during 2017, although definitely not until the autumn.

GETTING BLOGGY WITH SHY YETI

This is a collection of poems and prose that I've been putting out on the blog between the beginning of 2015 and the end of 2016 - although it may be that I extend that out to the end of 2017, I'll see how busy I get.

THE SHY YETI SKETCH BOOK

This is a compilation of all the Shy Yeti sketches that I've been writing of late. Originally I was going to release it at the start of 2017, but now I'd like to wait until I have rounded off the plot-line involving Shy Yeti and Toppie Smellie - and then I'll consider releasing the book; hopefully by autumn 2017.

I'd also like to move forward with, at least, one of my Mouse Of Commons projects - probably the short story collection - which all I need to do is finish typing up and proofread! I'll get there eventually, I promise. At least Gladstone McWhiskers and Oliver Louse feature in this year's Christmas blog-post.

In addition to this I expect Nick Goodman and I to move forward with our "UNTITLED SCRIPT" which I've not yet had time to complete my next episode of... My bad! I'll must get on with that...

As I mentioned briefly earlier, I did complete one show at THE POETRY CAFE during 2016. I'd have liked to have done more - but The Poetry Cafe was closed for the last quarter of the year for renovations. Hopefully I'll be back in 2017... You can read about the show I did here:

I did manage to get to one of John Smallshaw's open-mike nights - a recording of which should be appearing in one of my podcast episodes in the near future... It was recorded back in August 2016, but due to lots of other material for shows I've ended up keeping it aside for one of my episodes of "lost" recordings...

Next time we have a new Shy Yeti script for you which stars myself and Toppie Smellie going for a nice relaxing weekend away, but then encountering a rather unsavoury (or should I say, quite sweet) adversary...
