THE SHY LIFE PODCAST GETS SPIKY!?!

Hello beasties!

This week we'll be talking about a new episode of the podcasts and also about something new that I've revived and completed from the recent past!

What do I mean? Well, this week we have a new poem - it's been a while in the making, to be honest - but more about that in a bit... First here is more information and links to the two latest podcast episodes that have been released since our last post. One is a Bert and Gert Special recorded in Hamburg back in June and the other a snapshot of varied activities - chats on the radio, by a lake and in a restaurant all recorded back in July 2017.

In which we learn some secrets about Ikk and Bert and Gert get a chance to shine!

Here we are for episode 107 - where this time we finally return to Hamburg to hear that exclusive interview that Cromitty recorded with Ikk back in the summer. Why is Ikk so afraid of water? Will Cromitty be able to shed light on this mystery? Will Paul still get to read some of his poems? Will we hear from the regulars? Who are the mysterious callers phoning in to Bert and Gert? THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 108: A SUMMER SNAPSHOT FROM OLD LONDON TOWN...

Here we are for episode 108 - where this time we take a trip to Greenwich with Paul and his friends - we also hear Mr Yeti on the radio and catch up with the regulars to find out what is going on with Bettina and Nathan! All that and now that show is out and available for you all to hear!

So... What have I been recording since we last talked... err... communicated...

Errr... Well, I began a new episode just the other day - it's all about a semi-regular of the show returning home after a bit of a break and how excited everyone is to see him; only he's not quite as nice to be around as he was the last time he was there. I won't say any more for the moment as I don't imagine that this episode will be out until November or December. I have other episodes that are yet to be recorded which will be out towards the end of this month, moving into October and November. I'm quite excited about them too, but won't say any more for the moment... Sorry! I'm being very vague today, aren't I! I promise there will be more news as we get closer to the end of the month.

What other recording have I been up to? Well, I've focused on a few scenes here and there to add into episodes that I'm currently working on. Both episode 106 and 107 were recorded quite a while ago before I'd decided exactly the format of the episode. 106 had links recorded with Bert and Gert as far back as March - with most of the rest of the episode recorded in Hamburg back in June. 107 was recorded in a number of different locations during the summer. When I returned to the project I discovered two conversations that were long enough to add to another episode that was potentially under-running, so I moved that footage about. Although 107 was over 3 hours long even after these conversations were removed I knew that not all the material would be used and some of it would be layered over each other as background sound...

All the same - both 106 and 107 needed a few extra bits adding to them - just another 10 minutes, but an important 10 minutes...

In the case of 106 I needed more Bert and Gert input - which also allowed me to use some more of my archive recordings. In 107 I wanted a little more of Bettina, Dameus, Yeti Uncle John and Ikk - as I planned to update events that were going on with Nathan and Ikk's big plan; once again I also recorded something that allowed me to use some more of those archive recordings that were originally used on Sutton Park back in the day.

I hope you enjoy both 106 and 107, both which are out now!

Moving on, as mentioned before, we have a new poem - which will be included in my next collection of prose and poetry which I am beginning to work into a book. It'll be things that I've published on the blog between 2015 and 2017, so most probably I won't have got the full content for the book until the end of this year.

The new poem is called I DON'T KNOW YOU AT ALL and it's one of those pieces that has been rather a long time in the writing - I started it on the 23rd January 2014 and worked on it until sometime in February the same year, but then it was left for a long while with only two of verses completed. Last week I decided to return to some of my unfinished poems and this was one of the random few that I revisited and I swapped a few lines around and worked on the unwritten verses and had the piece finished on the 7th September 2017. The version included here is a finished draft and I may still tinker around with it between this post and the time that it is published in my next collection, sometime in early to mid 2018.

Next time we'll be looking at what I've been up to - both recording new episodes, returning to Radio Wey - and also which episodes I have just released or am about to release... Also it's nearly time for Harry and I to head off to Lille for an extra special edition of the podcast, so that will probably get a mention too!
