"THE MEDICINE MOUTH - LOVED UP"

Date: Friday, 12 February 2010

Time: Between 21:00 and 23:00
Location: EAST BLOC,: 58 OLD STREET, London, U.K.

Before I tell you how it went - let me set the scene...

Host: Trevor Medicine presents "THE MEDICINE MOUTH"

Once a month, Trevor Medicine invites you to join him and a handful of some of the finest poetic talent for an evening of verbal violence, silly stanza and rhythmic ranting, all for your aural pleasure. All of this and more, sandwiched by the wonderful SanDiego: Spinning the tunes.

POETS prescribing the FEBRUARY/VALENTINE dose are:

- FRAN LANDESMAN

Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, Shirley Bassey and Ella Fitzgerald, to name but a few on the long list of singers who have performed and recorded the work of New York born, legendary poet and lyricist, Fran Landesman. We at East Bloc are very excited and honoured to welcome a guest of Fran's prestige to the Medicine Mouth stage.

- SHY YETI (PAUL CHANDLER)

Due to have another book published very soon, this pie-crust munching bear of a poet will be reading verses old and new from his esteemed publications.* (Please note: I did not write this description! I'm not *that* much of an egotist! lol)

And special guest poet: GREG LEONARD

Penning a piece specifically for our Valentine show.

Well, I'm glad to say it seemed to all go very well and even if I do say so myself I think the styles of all the poets on the evening seemed to go very well; we even had three pieces from our host: Trevor Medicine, himself! :) It was great to hear Bridget and Greg read too and also to get a chance to meet Fran Landesman and to get a book or two signed by her.

As for the poems that I read myself - I managed to fit in nine "love" themed verses - seven of which appear in my SHY YETI RULES OK compilation from 2009 - each poem represents a different form of love :
