Hello beasties!
This week I'll be telling you a bit about what I got up to on my birthday - I'll be sharing with you some stories, some photos and we'll also be looking at recent podcasts. Maybe in the next few weeks I'll be telling you about some of the episodes that we have in store for the rest of 2017, but we'll leave that for another time.
First up though - here are our most recent podcast episodes:
THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 121: JESTING WITH DJ...
Here we are for episode 121 and whilst Mr Yeti remains under lock and key he reflects back to and shares a recent chat that he and the regulars had with DJ Starsage from The Faraway Nearby and Surely, You Jest! podcasts. Along the way we also get to hear a recording of Paul from 1991 as he reads us the first episode of his series, The Muddled Memoirs Of Sir Roland Quaverall. Thanks again to DJ for chatting with me for the show! Our next episode, number 122 returns to the cellar - but also finds us in Italy... Or does it?! Do join us, won't you?! Please email me at shyyeti@yahoo.co.uk if you have any comments - you can even send me a sound-file and I'll include it on the show. The music is by Shy Yeti and Luca. All content of this episode is Copyright Paul Chandler, 2017. Episode 121 was recorded between the 4th and 5th November 2017. This episode also includes archival material over 25 years old which might be of a slightly lower sound quality.
This episode can be downloaded on iTunes, Acast, Podbean and also from Soundcloud at the following link:

Next up - some photos from my recent trip to Verona... There will be some this week and then more the following post once I post our podcast recording out there... In fact I may even save a few for December, as there is another episode set in Italy that I'm saving for closer to Christmas. Anyway, first of all here's a brief diary of what we got up to...
SHY YETI'S ITALIAN BIRTHDAY DIARY
MONDAY 6TH NOVEMBER 2017
Monday was all about travel - flying from Gatwick to Verona before getting a bus to the centre and walking to the hotel. We had a nice dinner at a nearby restaurant, Olivo 1939 - but it wasn't a late night! We didn't really have any late nights the whole holiday - who needs it!?!
TUESDAY 7TH NOVEMBER 2017
On Tuesday we explored Verona. The weather wasn't too great in the morning, but it did improve a little as the day went on... We visited the Basilica of San Zeno - took photos along the river side and visited a gallery in an old castle. I kept on recording for the podcast as we went along - recording two different episodes side-by-side. In the evening Calum and I went out for an Indian meal down the road from our hotel: The Maharajah. Curries are one of my favourites, of course - and this one didn't disappoint!
WEDNESDAY 8TH NOVEMBER 2017
On Wednesday we took a train to Desenzano by Lake Garda. There were no boats on the lake but it was nice sit in the sun, record for the podcast and admire the view. We also had some nice ice cream and caught the bus home to Verona. By now we had worked out a little tradition of going for cocktail or beer in our hotel for their happy hour between 6 and 7.30! Nibbles were provided! Having had our treat we then headed down the road for dinner at Scaligero.
THURSDAY 9TH NOVEMBER 2017
On Thursday we spent the day back in Verona; pottering about - taking photos and recording once again. Ice cream was also on the cards again and we also visited the Arena where I read some poems from my IF POEMS WERE PIES collection. Having stopped for the happy hour we headed to another restaurant near the hotel; Enocibus.
FRIDAY 10TH NOVEMBER 2017
On Friday - my birthday - we took a bus out to Simione; another town by Lake Garda. I recorded the last few bits for the podcasts that I'd been working on and we stopped for another ice cream. It was another lovely day, as it had been when we were in Desenzano earlier in the week. Having bought a few trinkets we headed back for the bus - only to learn that there was a bus strike which nobody had bothered to tell us about! We ended up having to share a taxi back to Verona - which wasn't cheap, but... well, it was my birthday! We were back in time for happy hour and then went to have birthday dinner back at Olivo 1939 as I had enjoyed it there on our first night in Verona.
SATURDAY 11TH NOVEMBER 2017
Saturday was all about us returning to London. We had an early breakfast and then headed back to the airport - flying out on time at midday. We were back in the flat soon after 3pm and I got to work on editing episode 121 of the podcast; the episode that I have previewed at the top of this blog. All in all a very successful trip with mostly good to very good weather.
There will be more photos next time - I took plenty, believe me... In fact there are some more at the end of this post.
Anyway, that's about it for now. Enjoy the photos and we'll be back in a week or so!
Yeti hugs,
Paul xx
