BACK TO VENICE - PART 2!!!

THE SECOND OF OUR VENICE PODCASTS...

Hello beasties!!

This week we're back in Venice... Again! Don't worry though - it's not another new visit - just more about my last trip there back in November.

We would have been there sooner, only I got distracted and released a short episode with Dameus Twinklehorn that acts as an intermission between the two Venice episodes of the show. Blog-wise you will have barely noticed the gap as it was only a post or two ago that we last discussed my recent trip there! I have so many photos from the trip - I was aiming to post photos that covered the period covered by that first podcast episode, but I fell about a day short in doing that; so the photos this time will cover the middle of the trip - when I visited Padua and Trevino. It looks quite likely that I'll be saving the last few photos, taken on my birthday, for when I finally get around to releasing YETI DON'T FALL BACKWARDS in the Spring.

Anyway, let's get moving - time to introduce our second episode of THE SHY LIFE PODCAST from Venice...

These first three photos were taken on Thursday 27th October 2016, a little over a week before I headed for Venice. They are here because they were taken on the evening that I recorded some links for our Venice episode in Southfields near Wimbledon whilst waiting for Calum to arrive for one of our weekly work night's out! There are lots more photos coming up and I have also been working on a special yeti script for you!

I was originally in Venice for my birthday in early November - when I also recorded a podcast out there... Well, that is ready now too...

THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 38: A VENETIAN ANNIVERSARY (2 OF 2)

Here we are for episode THIRTY EIGHT and once again we are back in Venice. Paul and Calum are too busy enjoying their holiday to notice that they are being pursued by the sinister Cromitty. There is help out there - but it's got its own agenda! Our next episode, number 39 - will be released in the next few days... Please email me at shyyeti@yahoo.co.uk if you have any comments - you can even send me a sound-file and I'll include it on the show. The music is by Shy Yeti and Luca. Sound effects by Paul Chandler and Soundbible. This episode and all contents are Copyright Paul Chandler, 2016. Episode 38 was recorded between the 9th and the 11th November 2016.

This episode can be downloaded on iTunes, Acast, Podbean and also from Soundcloud at the following link:

THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 39: STALKING SHY YETI...

Here we are for episode THIRTY NINE and THE SHY LIFE PODCAST has been taken over by - enemy of the show and former Sutton Park actor - Cromitty. He presents to you an episode of his "STALKING SHY YETI" podcast where he aims to show you what Shy Yeti is really like behind the scenes - even managing to interview some of his friends about some of his negative points!! Our next episode, number 40 - will see one of Mr Yeti's oldest friends centre-stage... Please email me at shyyeti@yahoo.co.uk if you have any comments - you can even send me a sound-file and I'll include it on the show. The music is by Shy Yeti and Luca. This episode and all contents are Copyright Paul Chandler, 2016. Episode 39 was recorded on Saturday 3rd December 2016.

This episode can be downloaded on iTunes, Acast, Podbean and also from Soundcloud at the following link:

THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 40: YOU CAN'T KEEP A GOOD MAN DOWN...

Here we are for episode FORTY and although we initially catch up with Paul we end up spending more time with his old friend Nick Goodman, who has a number of encounters with some of our series regulars who just happen to be passing by. Our next episode, number 41 - will probably be a recording of our live show from Sunday 18th December 2016. Please email me at shyyeti@yahoo.co.uk if you have any comments - you can even send me a sound-file and I'll include it on the show. The music is by Shy Yeti and Luca. This episode and all contents are Copyright Paul Chandler, 2016. Episode 40 was recorded between 31st August and 14th December 2016.

This episode can be downloaded on iTunes, Acast, Podbean and also from Soundcloud at the following link:

Here are some more of those Venice photos that I promised you!

Next time I'm pretty sure we'll have another podcast to discuss - and we'll also be heading slowly towards that time of the year where it's okay to wear silly hats and eat too much... (That's me most days, right?!)

As I say, I may well do another Venice post in the new year - so I'll get busy tarting them up a bit and getting them ship-shape for you!

More soon - take care!

Yeti hugs,

Paul xx

PS I also wrote you a little piece whilst in Venice... I wrote the first few lines on the 19th October 2016 - but the rest I wrote between late November and early December, once I had returned from my birthday trip.

GETTING LOST IN VENICE...

There is nothing better; at least for me...
Than getting lost in Venice...
Than allowing the city to play games with me...
Allowing it to lay out its twists and turns for me -
Allowing it to trick me into going down dead-ends -
Or simply making wrong turnings that only take me deeper into the maze...
Leaving me facing gargoyle festooned gates -
Where none shall pass...
Leaving me floundering with only the canal there before me;
Teasing me with its water...
"If you wanna go that way, kid - then you're gonna have to swim!"
"But I'm sure... I'm certain that this was the way to the supermarket..."
Only yesterday... Only yesterday I'm pretty certain -
That this way lead to the bridge and then on to the museum...
How can the path just change like that?
How can a canal suddenly just appear here when I am sure none was there before?
"What's wrong with me? Why is this happening..."
Of course all this confusion is watched by the locals...
Staring through cracks in the curtains -
Peering over balconies as they encourage their dogs to bark at me...
Really - it's not something to take personally.
It's just the way that Venice likes to play...
It loves to toy with its tourists and explorers...
It's a cheeky city; it does it because it can...
Let yourself be caught up in it -
Allow it to spin you around like a small child at a birthday party...
This is one game of Pin The Tail On The Donkey that you will enjoy...
Just don't lose your footing unless you want an early bath...
Those who resist Venice always regret it...
Some are still out there wandering the streets...
With beards down to their knees;
Existing only on a diet of left-over pizzas -
And half-melted gelato...
Venice can be mean like that -
But only to those who disrespect or deserve it...
So be on your best behaviour...
There's only one thing for it really and you know it...
As they say in Venice...
"Ah, just get lost!"
