Hello beasties!
This week I'm going to share with you some of my recent adventures in Hamburg - and also some of the photos that I took...
First up here's all the details from my latest podcast episode - which I recorded over the 24 hour period between my return from Hamburg and my trip off to Jersey. I had plenty of pre-recorded episodes in the can but wasn't sure I'd have time to advertise those and so I recorded something in one take that only needed scant editing. I was quite pleased with what emerged and I hope you enjoy it too!
THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 82: WHILST THE YETI'S AWAY...
Here we are for episode EIGHTY TWO... In a change from the advertised episode!! This time Yeti Uncle John is left holding the podcasting baby when Paul doesn't make it back in time from a trip. Luckily he is able to pull a show together with help from Dameus, Charlie Grrr and Bettina Du Pres; there are also poems by Paul and messages from Toppie, Ikk and Cromitty!! Yeti Uncle John also pops in to see how an old friend of the show is getting on. Next episode we'll definitely be finding out what's inside Ikk's special gift - but it may take us another week or so... Do join us, won't you? Calum and I headed off to Hamburg on Tuesday morning, arriving at the hotel in good time. Our hotel (The Radisson Blu) was just across from this station: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamburg_Dammtor_station and so couldn't have been more convenient. Our room overlooked a park that we would spend a lot of time in over the next few days, but more about that in a bit. We didn't go far that first day - but had a potter into town for dinner, visiting a yummy burger bar where you ordered your food off a screen using a swipe-card. http://www.burgerlich.com/locations/hamburg/

Wednesday was Calum's birthday - it was warm, if a little too breezy for recording the podcast - but I did my best and took lots of photos. Much of the morning was spent exploring a lovely park near the hotel... Take a look at the site: http://plantenunblomen.hamburg.de/ We also made our way down to the docks - had a nice lunch and then took an hour boat trip around the docks. In the evening we went to a bierkeller near the hotel where we ate... well, it was a feast!
Thursday 1st June 2017
Thursday we took a day trip to the town of Lubeck. The weather continued to be gorgeous and we found some nice shade and later a cafe with good cake. Again, I took a number of photos and continued to record for the show... Here's some more about the town: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%BCbeck That night we have pizzas back in Hamburg and also visited a bar close to the hotel which had a happy hour on cocktails - although Calum stuck to beers.
Friday 2nd June 2017
Friday we explored the other side of the park near the hotel! So many beautiful flowers! I could have just sat there all day. In the end I let Calum go off and explore some more whilst I chilled out in the evening. We returned to our new favourite cocktail bar and had burgers from McDonald's on our last night.
We headed off pretty early today as our flight was around lunchtime. The journey between our hotel and the airport was a pretty quick trip and we were home by late afternoon. What with all the photos that I took and another podcast episode under my belt I'm going to be thinking back to this enjoyable few days away for quite some time as part of my creative projects too.
I've saved some more of the photos from my Hamburg trip to go with the post that I release when the Hamburg episode of THE SHY LIFE PODCAST is released. So, more soon!
Next time we'll be discussing some more podcasts and also looking into more of what I've been up to whilst I've been away...
