ALL ABOARD FOR POEMS AND PODCASTS...
Hello beasties!
This week I have news on podcasts and also my first new poem in quite some time and this is one that I have been working on since January 2014, although it's rarely been added to in any detail until the other week... There's a bit of a story about why I wrote it and who inspired it - but we'll get to that in a bit...
I've had to have a bit of break this week as far as recording new episodes is concerned - as my cold returned... That said, I did record a whole episode in one take on Tuesday 7th (ep 59) before it really returned and also another semi-sequel to that episode on Friday 10th (or at least a lengthy segment of one! I'll edit out the coughing, don't worry!) One thing that having a cold doesn't stop me doing is editing and I've been beavering away at the last few episodes - you'll have seen two of them on last week's post and we have another two of them for you this week... They are related in a way - and a little geeky - I hope you enjoy them...
Here we are for episode SIXTY - where this time we join Mr Yeti for a beginner's guide to classic Dr Who with Toppie Smellie - not to mention a bit of chitter-chat with old school-friend, Harry. There are poems too and many of the regulars are there to share their memories! Our next episode, number 61 - is awaiting editing, but I'm not yet sure which one it will be! It'll be out soon!! Please email me at shyyeti@yahoo.co.uk if you have any comments - you can even send me a sound-file and I'll include it on the show. The music is by Shy Yeti and Luca. This episode and all contents are Copyright Paul Chandler, 2017. Episode 60 was recorded between the 4th and the 7th February 2017. There is, however, one other clip featuring Nick Goodman which was recorded on the 29th October 2016. P.S. The word VWORP!! is the sound that the TARDIS makes when it is seen in any Dr Who comic strips!

Here we are for episode SIXTY ONE - which is a sort of unofficial sister episode to our previous show. This one though, isn't specifically about Dr Who - but it is about fandom and the exciting world of conventions! Paul talks to Toppie, Nick G and hears from Trowby, Lisa and Warren from the Round The Archives podcast to share some of their memories too. Our regulars also discuss what it's like to be part of our own show... There are poems too! Our next episode, number 62 - will either be a recording of our 6th live Pride48 show or... something else! Watch this space!! It'll be out soon!! Please email me at shyyeti@yahoo.co.uk if you have any comments - you can even send me a sound-file and I'll include it on the show. The music is by Shy Yeti and Luca. This episode and all contents are Copyright Paul Chandler, 2017. Episode 61 was recorded between the 22nd February and the 13th March 2017.
This episode can be downloaded on iTunes, Acast, Podbean and also from Soundcloud at the following link:

THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 61: CONVENTIONALLY UNCONVENTIONAL!!

The photos in this post were taken just before the return of my cold on Sunday 5th March 2017 whilst out and about doing chores... On the way back from picking up a UPS parcel I recorded a couple of short scenes for a future podcast episode that I hope to share with you in the next month or so. The graffiti photos were taken under the M25 in an area that has been a good source for such art for many a year now; going right back into the mid-00s.
We still have a new poem to come - do read to the bottom of the post, as I've written a bit behind the story of the writing of the piece.
Next time there will be more on podcasts and possibly a new Shy Yeti script, we'll see ...
That's all for now... Take care - more soon, Yeti hugs,
Paul (aka Shy Yeti) xx
Come on! Come on!
You'll hear them scream!
Glam-rock vampire, '74...
What surprises may well -
Lurk in store!?
He skulks about -
A ghoul in waiting…
Who is this guy -
You’re newly dating?
So do you know -
Quite who he is?
Shake him up -
And see him fizz!!
He has a quite -
Hypnotic gaze…
A winning smile -
That shines for days…
He'll claim his style –
Was rudely stolen...
But he ripped his look –
Off Mister Bolan!
Come on! Come on!
You'll hear them shout!
Glam-rock vampire '74...
He'll rouse the teens -
Then start a war...
Blood sucking fiend...
Weird funky singer...
Sure puts his victims -
Through the wringer...
A killing spree,
Won’t make him bitter...
Rips out their throats
All doused in glitter...
Too soon for New Wave –
Too soft for punk...
Too late for prog –
And all that junk!
This doesn’t stop him -
Acting bendy…
Dressed as a bat -
Still rather trendy!
Come on! Come on!
You'll hear them bellow!
Glam-rock vampire, '74...
Won't always bite!
But he'll surely score...
A dancefloor beast –
He hunts his prey...
The disco yeti -
He keeps away!
There on the stage...
There's none left crying...
A trail remains -
The blood’s still drying…
But no-one sees...
The stains that linger…
A severed toe –
One nibbled finger…
The mess is blamed
On drag-queens fighting…
The killer's gone -
It's quite exciting…
Come on! Come on!
You'll hear them chant!
Glam-rock vampire '74...
Might one day show -
Up at your door…
This piece was written between 9th January 2014 and the 3rd March 2017 - I only dipped into it a few times in between - once on the 7th April 2016 and then between the 2nd and 3rd March 2017. It was inspired by my friend Paul Webster who lives in Australia and who has done a number of my book illustrations in the past - most notably the BEAST OF FRIENDS one and the ONION MAN one, both of which have been on the covers of my books. One of his t-shirts (which I bought from his site on Redbubble) was labelled GLAM-ROCK VAMPIRE '74 and this inspired me to write the poem. I'm glad it's finally finished!
Here is a Redbubble link to the drawing that inspired me to write this poem - check it out: https://www.redbubble.com/people/paulwebster/works/8777736-1974-vampire-vintage?c=140990-doodle-vintage-tees
