SHY YETI VERSUS THE BEARGRRRIAN GAZETTE!!

WHAT'S WITH ALL THE QUESTIONS!?!

Hello beasties!

This week we've got another update on yeti writing as first published in THE BEARGRRRIAN GAZETTE some weeks ago...

First up though - two of our most recent podcasts... The first of these sees Mr Yeti and Cromitty going on an adventure to a place that seems so very familiar and yet is so far away...

THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 198: SO CLOSE AND YET SO FAR AWAY...

Here we are for episode 198 in which Paul is lured into making a journey to a far off place where he encounters a very familiar nemesis... or maybe more! Cromitty is there to assist him - but will he be able to get them both home!? There are also music, poems and SUTTON PARK clips from 1994 which follow on from those used in episode 197. Our next episode, number 199 sees Paul taking the regulars from a tour around his library; only to learn that there are a few unwanted guests skulking about the book shelves! Do join us, won't you?! Please email me at shyyeti@yahoo.co.uk if you have any comments - you can even send me a sound-file and I'll include it on the show. The music is by Shy Yeti and Luca. All content of this episode is Copyright Paul Chandler, 2018. Episode 198 was recorded between 9th and 12th April 2018, with an extra note recorded 12th September 2018.

Next up - our final show before 200 is all about a horde of shelving imps that are causing Paul problems in his library...

THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 199: AN INVASION OF SHELVING IMPS!

Here we are for episode 199 - in which Paul shows the gang around the library during the college summer holidays - only to realise that the Shelving Imp problem may well be getting out of hand...  The regulars have plenty of advice - but it might be Cuthbert who holds the key! Thank you to Toppie Smellie and his team for their help with this episode and to Jay The Hauntcub for all his questions, as featured on the show. Our next episode is a big one - number 200! Not only do we have a new theme tune for you but it is finally time for the big Murder Mystery Weekend - with returning guest star Toppie Smellie and many others... Do join us, won't you?! Please email me at shyyeti@yahoo.co.uk if you have any comments - you can even send me a sound-file and I'll include it on the show. The music is by Shy Yeti and Luca. ### Digging Into Unheard Of Places

Paul digs through the archives to find a few interesting conversations that never made it onto shows. This episode has been postponed due to technical difficulties during summer 2018 and was replaced with another episode, but will be rescheduled once more material has been set aside.

The interview is coming up - but otherwise that's all I have to share with you...

Take care - more soon,

Yeti hugs,

Paul (aka Shy Yeti) xx

A FIFTEENTH SLIGHTLY-OVER 60 SECOND CHAT WITH SHY YETI

Here is a recent interview from Beargrrria’s top magazine for chat; THE GROWL GAZETTE. They know me there partly due to my dubious connection with Beargrrrian superstar, Charlie Grrr. This is the 15th time that they have interviewed me in recent years – they like to check up on me every six months or so. As usual I mainly discuss what I’m up to creatively – so here’s what they asked and what I said in reply; straight from the yeti’s mouth, as it were!!!

Q. Welcome Mr Yeti!

Hello… It’s very nice to be here again – I have so much to tell you!

Q. What books have you released so far in 2018?

A. Three and counting! I released two over the summer – SHY YETI’S GRRR-EATEST HITS – a compilation of my poems and THE SHY YETI SKETCHBOOK a collection of scripts about “Shy Yeti” that I originally first published on my shyyeti.com blog. These two are available on both lulu.com and – for the first time- on Amazon.co.uk as well; in both hardback and paperback edition.

The third book is the third season of my script series HOT STUFF!! It’s currently only available on lulu.com – but I will be putting out a compiled edition of the first three seasons which will be available on Amazon too – in multi-formats!

Of course – as readers may realise I have been working on a number of other books during this period – but these are ones that won’t be completed for a while yet. The ones that came out in 2018 are just the ones that finally reached the end of the road having been in production for the last 2-3 years. As often happens it is one of those situations where these three books were ready around the same time and were released within a month or two of each other.

Q. Which title will be your next release?

A. I doubt there will be any more releases in 2018 – but my first book of  2019 is most likely to be the third season of my script series KENSINGTON GORE – which is currently going through formatting and last minute re-writes. One again I expect the third season to be available on Lulu – with a compilation of seasons 1-3 released on both Lulu AND Amazon. There are plenty of other releases hot on the heels of this particular book – but I’ll mention those as I have just spotted your next question!

Q. What projects are you currently working on?

A. Other books that I am working on at the moment next in priority after the KENSINGTON GORE Season 3 are as follows:

GETTING BLOGGY WITH SHY YETI

My next books of short poems and prose – items first published exclusively on my blog between 2014 and 2016 (dates??) This collection will probably be one of my first books released in 2019.

THE BEAST OF FRIENDS – THE LOST SEASON

This season fits in somewhere towards the end of the first season of THE BEAST OF FRIENDS and even includes a new regular character or two.

KENSINGTON GORE – SEASON 4

The fourth season is in the final stages of its first draft – but will enter the formatting and rewriting stage in late 2018 into 2019. It will be the last KENSINGTON GORE scriptbook for a while after a successful run and some super support from readers.

HOT STUFF!! SEASON 4, 5 AND 6

Season 4 has been ready for proofing and rewrites for a year or more now – season 5 I completed the first draft of earlier in 2018 and season 6 I am poised to begin whenever I get a spare five minutes any time soon!

There are also Mouse Of Commons stories – further blog Shy Yeti scripts for the blog and probably my number one project of the moment, THE SHY LIFE PODCAST which I tend to produce around 6 episodes of a month; although it is mostly either ad-libbed or just conversations I also write scripts for some of my special guests …

Q. What is the future for both KENSINGTON GORE and HOT STUFF!!?

A. Well, as I mentioned before I am currently resting KENSINGTON GORE – although there is still a 4th season due out in 2019 which is already written, but needs proofreading. HOT STUFF!! is still ongoing… Season 4 will be out around Spring/Summer 2019, season 5 either in late 2019 or early 2020 and I am on the verge of starting work on season 6, right about now. It’s too early to say what the future of HOT STUFF!! is beyond season 6 – because doing the podcast leaves me with a lot less time for writing, although having finished so many long-term projects during 2018 I am now back only having one three or four… or five… or six. Of course, I also have my blog and various scripts on the go too! As a side point I should probably add that although KENSINGTON GORE is currently resting, season 6 of HOT STUFF!! is a sort of series cross-over – with a number of the key GORE cast featured. I’m sure I’ll talk more about that later!

Q. Would you ever consider writing more BEAST OF FRIENDS episodes?

A. Yes! I am actually working on another “lost” series of adventures – which takes place towards the end of the first season during a period when Cromitty and Clive are away from the house. I’m writing it in slow time and it may not be ready for a while yet – although I have written first drafts of the first 3 episodes and have just begun work on the 4th episode of eight projected scripts. Each episode is a stand-alone script – but there is a season arc related to a new character who comes to live at the house. Once season 4 of KENSINGTON GORE is done it will probably move up to fill the space of that series.

Q. Are you working on another collection of poetry?

A. In very slow-time, yes – I’ll be going about it in the same way as my forthcoming collection GETTING BLOGGY WITH SHY YETI in that it will contain poems and short prose that has already been posted on the blog in early draft form. At the moment there aren’t many short pieces in the pipeline – although I have begun toying with one or two poems that are already partially written – in the hope that I can get them finished at some stage in the near future.

Q. Did you do any live poetry shows in 2018?

A. Not live shows in a venue, no – but live radio, yes – and also the live editions of the podcast which are always fun to do… A number of the podcasts that I released during 2018 were composed using material from those radio shows – but mostly with other material surrounding those recordings. At time of writing my friend Tim, whose show I used to go on – is about to change stations; but hopefully we’ll get to record together again at some stage soon.

Q. Will there be further Shy Yeti scripts?

A. Yes, indeed! Although the first script book is only just out – so I am not very far along with the next batch of scripts; although there are one or two plot ideas waiting in the pipeline. At some stage soon I need to begin work on this year’s Christmas script – which I expect will continue the tradition of the last couple of years and somehow involve Gladstone McWhiskers and Oliver Louse; not to mention possible cameos from characters from THE SHY LIFE PODCAST.

Q. You have just released your 200th episode of the podcast… Is there anything that you can tell us about forthcoming episodes that you hope to release between now and Christmas?

A. The 200th episode was a funny one – I actually recorded a big chunk of it with Toppie back in June – quite some time before it was due to be released; and what with my laptop breaking down #200 was pushed back from September to early October. I ended up recording the bits that fit between the Toppie recordings several months later – having to remind myself what I already had. I think it came out well and hope the listeners did too! Putting together a new theme tune was also fun – it’ll be our third to date as I tend to change it every 100 episodes! Meanwhile, our Halloween episode is due out any day and I’ve begun work on my birthday episodes and also hope to be recording a number of interviews during my time away over my birthday. I’ve actually begun work on my Review Of The Year episode. Ironically I mostly find year reviews very annoying and no longer pay any attention to them; although a lot of people seem to like them – and funnily enough I really enjoy reviewing my show in this way!

Q. Which episodes that you’ve released recently were you most pleased with?

A. There have been a few episodes that I’ve been very pleased with – from a creative point of view these are often the more dramatic story-lead episodes because of the greater creative process involved in them. We have also had a few special episodes recently which have marked certain milestones or events going on that the podcast is somehow associated in… I’m talking about episode 200, of course – which we have been slowly building up to pretty much since Autumn 2017. I am also very pleased with the episode that I did where Paul gets hypnotised on the radio and also the show that I released to mark the Pride48 event in New Orleans in September 2018. We’re coming up to another busy period what with Halloween and then the episodes that I am intending to record around the time of my birthday!

Q. Do you still find the live podcasts a challenge?

A. Yes! I have to set a new challenge for every month – there literally is not going to be a live show if I’ve not got some theme – some twist – some shocking revelation to reveal to the chat-room! The episodes that I pre-record and construct in the studio are still my first love – but I do very much enjoy trying to do something different with my live hour!

Q. Do you have any special guests lined up for future episodes?

A. Absolutely. Some of these are returning guests from previous shows – whilst there will also be a few new guests who you won’t have heard from before; it should be a nice mix. There have been a few new voices during the 2018 season of the show – Beverley From Work, Dr Wesley Stone, Leigh Robertson and Princess Mykah to name just three. Meanwhile our list of returning guests has been very healthy – Toppie Smellie, Nick G, Harry F, Jay The Hauntcub, Wifey Jo, DJ Starsage, Trowby and Lisa, Niece Alena, Andy C, Calum to name just a few – not to mention all the voices from back in the day via old episodes of Sutton Park. I’m hoping to record quite a lot of new chats whilst I’m on my week off down in Kent over my birthday week – so even if I tick a couple of names off my Hopefuls List that week then that’ll be a result. Watch this space for more information!

Q. What do you have in store for the late 2018 / early 2019?

A. Well, I’m not going overseas for my birthday this year – although, as mentioned, I am going away for a week to do recording for episodes which will be out towards the end of the year. I have special episodes for Halloween and my birthday – not to mention potential live episodes around Christmas and New Year. At time of writing I’ve still not released the episode that I recorded in Vienna back in August – so there are still a number of shows waiting in the archives to be released. As for early 2019 we are beginning to consider trips that we’d like to make next year – and I’m keen to make a return to Venice in the Spring. I think a pie-related giallo with Charlie Grrr might be in store for us… Don’t say that I didn’t warn you!

Q. Are you still making new music for the show?

A. Yes, whenever I can… I came up with a new tune for episodes 200 onwards not too long ago and then – on a train from Paris to Marseille I managed to drain most of my phone battery power by trying to write a tune for my Marseille episode. Both tunes are now out and I think I’ve managed one other – I’d like to do more when I’m away in November.

Q. Are you still making cameos on other podcasts?

A. Occasionally yes – with discussions to be on a couple of other shows in the near future; around the time that this post is released I will be appearing on an episode of The Faraway Nearby to discuss retro TV. I also still send things in to Big Fatty Online and Tastes Like Burning from time to time. I also send The Smellcast various sounds and random noises for their Stick It Out The Back Door segment and Toppie Smellie occasionally contacts me short notice for any recordings that I can help him with. I’m a podcaster for hire, basically – and loving it.

Q. Have you been back on hospital radio since we last chatted?

A. Yes, I was on Radio Wey in late July – which you can hear on episode 192 of THE SHY LIFE PODCAST (LOOK INTO MY EYES – ON THE RADIO!!) It may be our last time that we’ll all be appearing together on that station as Tim may be changing stations very soon. Episode 192 ended up as quite a big production with quite a lot of additional plot – so if it is our last visit then it is certainly a fitting way to go out. It’s all about what happens when Mr Yeti is hypnotised by evil forces to rogue on the radio and one of the regulars must save the day!!

Q. Is there any news on new Mouse Of Commons projects?

Not at the moment – but there are plenty of Mouse projects to be completed and I’ll probably release something Mouse-related for the Christmas episode of the blog. Two of my Christmas scripts (for Christmas 2016 and 2017) were officially published this year as part of THE SHY YETI SCRIPT-BOOK.

Q. Would we be right in saying that your blog is still going strong?

A. Oh yes – I’m not currently posting every week – some years I do and some I don’t. In 2018 I’d say that I’ve probably been posting on a fortnightly basis once I have 2 or 3 episodes of the podcast to write about. Because many of my writing projects came to a head during the summer I’ve not been writing so many short prose pieces for the blog and I’m only just beginning to work on new She Yeti scripts for the second script-book. The only new prose that is going on the blog are any scripts that I write specially for the podcast; maybe one day I’ll collect all those together too – although they don’t necessarily work unless you know the series. In the last week or two I have begun tinkering with 4 different poems that I began quite some time again – I’m not sure when these will be completed but the provisional titles are BAD TORO, A CONGRESS OF MONGOOSE, THE BIRDS IN THE GARDEN and I WAS A TEENAGE WERE-BADGER… A silly as ever, aye!?

Q. Do you still enjoy taking the podcast out on location? Have you been anywhere interesting of late?

A. Absolutely, yes – the main recording locations being Lyminge and Canterbury in Kent, Marseille, Vienna, Copenhagen and Dunbar in Scotland – it’s all terribly glamourous! That said, we don’t only record on location when I’m on holiday – I’ve also made a few lunchtime trips over to the park near my college – just to get a bit of a different sound to the recording or to interview a special guest.

Q. Exciting news! Thank you for talking to us, Mr Yeti. See you again in 2019!

A. I’m looking forward to it! Goodbye for now!
