IT'S "THE" BIG WEEKEND OF THE SUMMER...

BUSY - BUSY - BUSY...

Hello beasties!

This week we're going to be briefly discussing how our live show went as part of the Pride48 Live Streaming Event 2017... All that and some photos of me wearing silly hats, which were taken in Jersey the other week. Actually, to be fair to the hats, it's not them that is silly - more the way that they look when I am wearing them.

So... How did the show go and what happened!?

Well, it all went very smoothly, actually - which was a relief, of course... Usually I do live shows from my own flat and so I know what kind of internet strength I'll have - but I was able to do plenty of tests before hand and pretty much everything went well, except for a bit of a hum from my laptop. Nick and I interacted with the chat-room and there were many familiar names to be found there! (Thanks to Trowby and Lisa, Toppie, Hauntcub, DJ Starsage and Matt B to name just a few!) There were a fair few topics discussed - which included Dr Who and the pop hits of 1984. We were also lucky enough to have messages from some of the regulars - not to mention greetings by famous historical characters of the past, collected by Ikk in his UFO especially for this special occasion.

THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 89: LIVE 10 - PRIDE48 LIVE STREAMING EVENT 2017....

Here we are for episode EIGHTY NINE - where we are very proud to be launching into the festivities for the Pride48 Summer Live Streaming Weekend. Mr Yeti has a special guest for the show, old friend Nick Goodman who he has known for 30 years. There are also messages from the regulars - greetings from famous people of the past and lots of nattering in the chat-room. This version of the episode also has some extra content, including some of Shy Yeti's silly verse. So it all went well! I think it was a really successful weekend - so many great shows all in one place. I really enjoyed the ones I stayed up to listen to on the Friday night/Saturday morning and I still have a load more to catch up on when they release podcast versions of their shows. For my part once again, big thanks go out to Nick Goodman... I'm sorry I didn't get more photos whilst we were recording - but it's not easy when you're trying to do the show and keep an eye on the chat-room too. Most of the photos here I took whilst setting things up whilst Nick was busy converting old Sutton Park episodes in the next room! ;) I did get a couple of photos of our show mascots Grill and Whitty monkeying about beforehand; but I'm not sure those should be shared.

Oops. Too late!

I am already busy on our next episode... It's all about one of my books which is celebrating a 10th anniversary, but don't worry - it's going to be a fun edition with plenty going on!

Next time I'll be telling you about my trip to Radio Woking - not to mention sharing more podcast information with you. I am also almost ready to begin sharing things with you about my next script-book - actually my next TWO script-books... Yes, it's finally (nearly!!) time to release the second seasons of both KENSINGTON GORE and HOT STUFF!!, which have been two and a half years in the making. These new releases should be out by August - exact dates to be confirmed; but we'll be telling you a bit about both the books sometime very soon!

A LITTLE STORY FROM JERSEY...

THERE'S ALWAYS TIME TO MAKE A WISH...

This week we're back in Jersey - if only briefly...

I've got a fair few photos from that trip to share with you and also a little story that I wrote since I've returned that was inspired by this visit; but first we have details about some more podcast episodes that have been released in the last week or so...

In a way it all sounds quite restful, doesn't it? Only it isn't... I can't say a lot more about events - other than that you will hear from the regulars and - of course, there will be poems! Here we are for episode EIGHTY EIGHT - where Yeti Uncle John takes the lead in an episode that concerns quiz nights... John, Bettina and Dameus attend such an event and then John decides that he wants to run one of his own, but finds it's not as easy as he thought. Meanwhile, Paul talks to Calum about his history with quizzes of all kinds and then explains to Ikk what all these questions are about! There are also poems. PS The following story was conceived on Tuesday 6th June, but was not written until Friday 16th June 2017. As I've said before - it's just a little one, but it's quite good fun (I hope!!)

WISHES DO COME TRUE...

Sally was in two minds about the Wishing Well. She valued her pocket money - but mummy and daddy seemed annoyingly keen for her to throw a chunk of it down the Wishing Well and peering into her purse she failed to see any small coins amongst the current balance. Sally had been saving for the latest tip-top collection by her favourite pop-star and simply throwing a handful of coins down this well was going to set back a way from her current goal. If they were so keen for her to waste her pennies on such wish-washy fairy-tale nonsense, then why didn't they simply gift her the appropriate change to do so.

"Go on, honey! Throw it in! Make a wish!" they cried, clearly unwilling to invest in this activity themselves.

Sally pulled a face, but at the same time she also gave in - took two or three of her smallest coins and flipped them into the well one at a time.

PLIP! PLOP!! SPLASH!!!

Sally made her wish - she didn't aim too high - and soon enough her desires came true; it was time to leave and ice cream was duly provided.

Meanwhile, down at the bottom of the well three smiling trolls - happily regarded their latest spoils - three shiny coins ready and waiting for them to spend.

"PLIP!!" said the first troll.

"PLOP!!" said the second troll.  

"SPLASH!!" said the third troll.

Having stood staring at their coins for more time than was necessary time the three of them put on their best brightly coloured bell-hats and headed off down to the local troll record shop to buy a copy of the brand new album by their favourite, poppermost singer-songstress...

Because sometimes - you see - wishes really do come true...
