OUR NESSIE HUNT CONTINUES!!

THIS TIME WE'RE UP IN THE LAKES...

Hello beasties!

This week we continue our Nessie Hunt by taking a trip to The Lake District - where we explore Keswick and Derwentwater... You're probably right in thinking that exploring such a beautiful area via audio does not exactly do the area justice - so I'm hoping to share with you some photos too...

Anyway - our search for Nessie continues and here is all you need to know about our latest episode:

THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 149: THE HUNT FOR NESSIE - LAKE DISTRICT EDITION (2 OF 3)

Here we are for episode 149 - where this time we take our hunt for Nessie up to The Lake District... Will we have more luck this time? We also learn how Ikk got over his fear of water! There are also poems, messages and further cameos by Toby and Crazy Niece Alena! Our next episode, number 150 - sees Cromitty and Yeti Uncle John heading for Italy - are they looking for Mr Yeti or is Cromitty actually hoping to find Nessie a new home in Lake Garda?! Do join us, won't you? Please email me at shyyeti@yahoo.co.uk if you have any comments - you can even send me a sound-file and I'll include it on the show. The music is by Shy Yeti and Luca. All content of this episode is Copyright Paul Chandler, 2018.  Episode 149 was recorded between the 22nd July 2017 and 27th of February 2018. Lake District Location work took place between the 19th and the 23rd August 2017.

This episode can be downloaded on iTunes, Acast, Podbean and also from Soundcloud at the following link:

149: https://soundcloud.com/shyyeti/the-shy-life-podcast-149-the-hunt-for-nessie-lake-district-edition-2-of-3

Our previous episode - also recorded on location, was put together in a more chronological order than episode 149. #149 was recorded out of order partly because of its ad-lib nature and partly due to the rather less than conventional wet summer weather. A number of our days in Braithwaite tha week were spent indoors - the British Summer can be so cruel sometimes!

Here is the actual order that episode 149 was recorded in:

19th August 2017: Scene in Keswick during rain.

20th August 2017: Bus, Derwentwater sounds and some dialogue.

21st August 2017: Dialogue - recorded in Braithwaite.

22nd August 2017: Scenes for start of episode in Carlisle. Also dialogue in Braitwaite.

23rd August 2017: Buttermere scenes.

We travelled up to Braithwaite on Friday 18th August and returned home on Friday 25th August 2017; as you can see we completed recording a day or so before we departed. I'm not sure we went too far on the 24th and at any rate I think I felt that everything that I needed to do had been done. One point of note is that I only decided to travel to Buttermere on my own at the very last minute and only because bad weather cleared. Therefore the Francis The Buttermere Ghost scene was only formulated when I found myself at an additional location and wanted to somehow record something memorable and specific to the area where I was exploring - something extra to what had already been recorded.

Coming up we have one or two new photos taken during the recording of this episode - mostly taken around the end of the trip whilst I was recording at Buttermere... Before we reach those you might also like to revisit the post that I made back last summer soon after I returned from this holiday...

Before we go - here is an update of the episodes that I am hoping to present to you over the next few weeks/months; including one or two newer episodes that I've been working on since our last post...

SHY LIFE PODCAST SHOWS - COMING SOON!!

Episode 150 is the last part of our Nessie story - recorded in Verona in November 2017. Following that we have quite a busy line-up; there have been one or two slight changes in order since our last post and so our next episode up once the Nessie Hunt is concluded is a show inspired by recent snowfall in London and across the UK...

151. Ikk's First Experience Of Snow

Paul invites Ikk to investigate the snow that has fallen upon London - which Ikk is very excited about as it is his first real live experience of snow! Yeti Uncle John and Cromitty are even sweeping the paths in readiness!! But Zap is also lurking in the Park intent to cause trouble. Meanwhile, Martin has some Sutton Park clips to share and Bettina puts out a request for help from the listeners...

152. What We Don't Like

Paul and Nick discuss a number of things that they think are over-rated, but Paul also shares his thoughts about some of his favourite non-Pride48 podcasts...

153. Return Of The Brompton Time Machine

This one has also brewing for quite some time - in fact I started work on it when we lasted visited Brompton Cemetery in early January 2017 and then recorded scenes with a number of guests throughout 2017; finally I'm ready to release it!

154. Live March 2018

Once again - this episode is fixed to a specific date - so it might end up changing number. Ikk shares an anecdote of the time he first met an alien - Bettina answers some listeners questions and Yeti Uncle John has a shocking piece of news for everyone... In extra material Cromitty and Martin disagree as to which old Sutton Park should be shared with the listeners and so there are two clips!!

155. Travel Episode

Paul and the regulars discuss plans for travel and also favourite places that they have visited over the years.

156. The April Fool Episode 2018

Paul turns to his friend Brocante The Antiques Dealer in this episode - but is what he suggests a big April Fool's joke or in fact his latest plan for the future of THE SHY LIFE PODCAST??

157. Peeper-napped

In which Paul receives a letter from a long-lost relative called Algernon and Ikk has his peepers stolen by Nathan/Zap. All this and Dameus worries about his voice which is beginning to settle back to its more quavering form; is this going to effect both his career AND his love-life?

158. When Harry Met Yeti

Harry and Paul catch up and discuss a number of different topics...

159. Bettina and the robot butler

This episode sees Paul visiting Bettina only to find out that the house has recently become robotically automated; also Wifey Jo play a card game with Cuthbert.

Additionally:

### Radios and Reminiscences

Whilst Paul heads back onto local radio - Cromitty has picked out some more SUTTON PARK clips.

### A Poetry Anniversary

Last week I also recorded most of an episode that mentions the 2nd anniversary - but also celebrates 10 years of SHY YETI'S INCREDIBLE PIE-CRUST COLLECTION (2008).

### The Great Bingo Scam

Someone is rigging the bingo so that they win - is it one of the regulars or someone more sinister?

Next time we'll be reaching the third and final episode of our Nessie trilogy...

That's all for now... Take care - more soon,

Yeti hugs,

Paul (aka Shy Yeti) xx

So... What did I get up to last weekend?

Recording on the radio was probably the highlight - although that wasn't all... Let me tell you more!

On Saturday 16th September 2017 between 6pm and 7pm I was back on Radio Wey with Tim Mitchell and Nathan Jones performing my poems - this time I ready from my 2006 collection, POEMS TO MAKE BEARS GROWL and read the following pieces.

ALTERNATIVE LIFESTYLES
A NIGHT ON THE TOWN WITH A YETI
KEEP THIS TO YOURSELF
WRITE ABOUT WHAT YOU KNOW

I did record audio of the events and have some extra bits to record to accompany it still to do, so I'm not sure, quite when I'll be putting the episode out - probably not until October or November; we'll see. We had discussions after to recording and if all goes to plan we'll be meeting one last time during 2017; probably in mid-December.

Other than a trip to Kingston Upon Thames for a bit of retail therapy (I bought pens and cards from Paperchase, but that was about all) my highlight of Sunday was doing September live Pride48 show. It was a pretty freaky episode set aboard Ikk's space-ship, with a number of plot twists and a good view of Uranus! Especial thanks to Trowby, Lisa, Toppie and "Lucky 13" for helping keep things busy in the chat-room during the show.

Next time we'll be discussing my forthcoming trip to Lille with Harry - there will probably be photos and if all goes to plan then there will be audio too...

Take care - more soon,

Yeti hugs,

Paul (aka Shy Yeti) xx

That hat is really far too small for you, Mr Yeti... Never mind...

RECORDING THE PODCAST WITH A GOOD MAN...

THE SHY LIFE PODCAST KEEPS BUSY...

Hello beasties!

More Deeley photos! Yes, indeed... Well, how can I resist! He's such a handsome fella! It could be worse - there could be more photos of me - and the internet simply doesn't need that!

This week I've been busy back in Salisbury... So what have I been up to? We're going to be taking a look behind the scenes of recording some of the future episodes of the podcast - this time with Mr Nick Goodman, who also - in different ways - plays a big part in the contents of two of our most recently released episodes, as detailed below:

THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 104: STORIES AND STORYTELLERS...

Here we are for episode 104 - where this time we investigate stories and storytellers... It's a bit of a writer's special where Mr Yeti speaks with Nick Goodman about inventing characters for their creative projects over the years! Experience the wonder of The Mighty Twiddler along the way, why don't you? But that is not all... There are plenty of tall tales to share with you! Thank you to Nick G and Aunt Tappie for their contributions to this episode. Our next episode, number 105 is all about how misunderstandings can suddenly break out between podcasts? Which podcast is it and what did they do to cause such dismay? To find out all the goss do please join us, won't you? Please email me at shyyeti@yahoo.co.uk if you have any comments - you can even send me a sound-file and I'll include it on the show. The music is by Shy Yeti and Luca. All content of this episode is Copyright Paul Chandler, 2017.  Episode 104 was recorded between the 31st January and 24th August 2017.

This episode can be downloaded on iTunes, Acast, Podbean and also from Soundcloud at the following link:

104: https://soundcloud.com/shyyeti/the-shy-life-podcast-104-stories-and-storytellers

Next up, our second episode this post is really rather different from the previous one - it's kinda crazy to be perfectly honest - but it was such great fun to put together!!!

THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 105: A L.O.T.S.L. DILEMMA...

Here we are for episode 105, where trouble has broken out after Mr Yeti misunderstands random comments about Bigfoot and aliens during an episode of the L.O.T.S.L. podcast! Can rifts be repaired? Will Ikk and his alien pals invade the earth in revenge? Will there be poems this episode or might things really get out of hand? Thanks to the  L.O.T.S.L. team - Toppie, Jay, Brenda, Peter and Wes for their contribution to this episode - and for use of several clips from old shows. Thanks also to James and Tim - Tim and James for hosting Ikk on an episode of Tastes Like Burning, a clip of which also appears this time. In our next episode we find out what happens when Bert and Gert hop aboard the podcasting train and also we finally learn why Ikk is so afraid of water! To hear all that and more do please join us, won't you? Please email me at shyyeti@yahoo.co.uk if you have any comments - you can even send me a sound-file and I'll include it on the show. The music is by Shy Yeti and Luca. All content of this episode is Copyright Paul Chandler, 2017, except for the aforementioned clips from other shows.  Episode 105 was recorded between the 7th August and 2nd September 2017.

This episode can be downloaded on iTunes, Acast, Podbean and also from Soundcloud at the following link:

105: https://soundcloud.com/shyyeti/the-shy-life-podcast-105-a-lotsl-dilemma

Finally, our third episode is one that really delves back into the archives - we do hear from Paul, Yeti Uncle John and Ikk - but most of the rest of the episode was recorded between 1989 and 1991!!

THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 106: THE FIRST PODCAST (A.K.A. LOST IN LONGLEAT)

Here we are for episode 106 - and in place of our scheduled episode we have a surprise from the archives! This week's podcast was only recently converted from tape by Mr Nick Goodman and is - well, it's almost a podcast and it was recorded way back in Autumn 1989 when Mr Yeti was just 15 years of age! It features his mum, dad, brother Graham and also his favourite Great Aunt Jessie. Listen as he visits a Dr Who exhibition - survives Graham's screams and then gets lost in a maze! Yeti Uncle John and Ikk are also here to comment on this new discovery and we also get to hear a rare episode of a series called "Spectrum" that Paul wrote in the very early 90s. You may well recognise some of the voices involved in this brief production. Enjoy this and... well, one or two other bits too! Thanks to Nick Goodman for his help with this episode - additional thanks to Andrew T, Keith M and Lee F. Our next episode, number 107 is the show that I promised last time that involves Gert, Bert, Cromitty and the secret of Ikk's fear of water - all recorded in Hamburg back in June 2017. Do please join us, won't you? Please email me at shyyeti@yahoo.co.uk if you have any comments - you can even send me a sound-file and I'll include it on the show. The music is by Shy Yeti and Luca. All content of this episode is Copyright Paul Chandler, 2017.  Links for episode 106 were recorded between the 4th and 5th September 2017. "Lost In Longleat" was recorded during October 1989 and the other archive clips come from unknown dates during the early 1990s.

This episode can be downloaded on iTunes, Acast, Podbean and also from Soundcloud at the following link:

106: https://soundcloud.com/shyyeti/the-shy-life-podcast-106-the-first-podcast-aka-lost-in-longleat

Before we move on - here are some more photos of a completely adorable cat... (Deeley!!!)

So... What have I been up to with recording with Nick? Here are the details!

Q. What did you record?

A. A number of things - a little piece where Nick and I are planning on taking Dameus out for a night on the bingo for a specific autumnal episode - I also recorded new bingo sounds at the same time on Friday 1st September 2017. The following day we also recorded chats on some of our adventures back in the day - travelling to Sheffield, Plymouth and London and we also talked awhile about how the tapezines and podcasts aren't a million miles away from one another. It's funny how things go full circle and having done tapezines in the late 80s and early 90s suddenly we're all about the audio again in 2017!

Q. When should we expect to hear these recordings?

A. I'm not yet sure which episode the travel chat will appear in - but the tapezine one may well feature in an episode where some of the show regulars go to a convention for a favourite TV show, which I intend to record in early October. The bingo sounds will appear in episodes in November - as we've a three part story coming out around then which focuses on Dameus and this scene appears in the first of these. I'm really excited for our autumn schedule as there are lots of exciting episodes in the can and a number that I've yet to record that I really can't wait to get busy on.

Q. What else did you get up to whilst back in Salisbury?

A. Aside from the bingo at the Dust Hole I also caught up with my friend Robin (one of the three original Sutton Park cast members) for a spot of lunch and also recorded the first half of an article for Trowby and Lisa's Round The Archives podcast. My next commission for them is a review of a 1974 Dr Who story called Invasion of the Dinosaurs, but as Nick was around he appears during the first half of the piece. Goodness knows what I'll do when I talk about episodes 4 to 6, without Nick to help me out with facts and figures! I'll just have to manage... Maybe Ikk (my alien friend) will show up and help me out!

Q. We believe that some of Nick's digitising work has featured on a recent podcast episode!

A. Absolutely! You're referring to episode 106 of the show which I've entitled The First Podcast - because one of the tapes that Nick converted was as close as you'll get to a podcast (or at least the type I do!) only it was recorded back in 1989. It features a day out to Longleat in Wiltshire with my parents, brother Graham (only 7 and half at the time!) and my Great Aunt Jessie. I visit the Dr Who exhibition, speak to Irene in the shop and also spend a lot of side 2 of the tape getting lost in the maze. I was 15, almost 16 when I recorded it and it was intended for a number of my pen-friends to hear. It's all transferred surprisingly well - and the only things I really edited out were the "clicks" when I paused the machine. I hope it's an enjoyable listen - I only wish I'd recorded a few more like this - but as far as I can remember this is the only podcast comparable audio that I recorded back then. It's lucky to have even survived! Of course I have many, many camcorder tapes out there with SUTTON PARK episodes on them which Nick is also converting - there's a lot of talking on those and I'm sure I'll select audio for the podcast, as well as visual clips for youtube.

Q. In addition to the Longleat tape we believe episode 106 features other archive treasures...

A. Yes, indeed... The thing I'm most excited about in the whole episode is a random episode of a series of mine called "Spectrum" that I've long been searching for copies of. It's from the very early 1990s and I'm still hopeful that I will track down the scripts, one day. I never throw away any of my writing, but there was only ever one copy; hand-written on spiral-bound note pads. "Spectrum" was the first project that I wrote which featured the characters Mavis, Edie and Fatima The Fantabulous, who have since appeared in many of my series, most recently, HOT STUFF!! Anyway, an audio version of episode 2 turned up a recent tape that Nick converted, which features me and my friends, Nick, Trowby and Keith playing all the parts. Presumably we recorded more than just this episode - but I am yet to locate any more. It's lovely to have even one episode and I was still very pleased with what I'd written (and even more so by our daft performances!). "Spectrum" was later revived in a slightly different format by Andrew Trowbridge later in the 90s - I remember writing a story myself (around 1996), but I don't think it was ever produced.

Q. We hope you find more "Spectrum" - what about the voices at the end of the episode - the wood nymph, for one... That's not you doing the voice, is it?

No... Not me... The two little scenes that Ikk and Yeti Uncle John uncover at the end of episode 106 are actually inserts that we original played in episodes of Sutton Park (probably from around the mid-90s.) They were meant to be played either as answer-phone messages or (supposedly) via the radio. They were done by my friend, Lee Freeman, who we lost contact with in the early 00s. As I still had the tapes I wanted to find a way to re-use them - originally the nymph voice wasn't as high pitched as he appears in 106; that was done with an effect that I added during editing as it wasn't really possible to do those kind of things at home back in the early 1990s. There will hopefully be more of Lee on THE SHY LIFE PODCAST in future episodes as we have found quite a lot of material which could potentially have a second life on the podcast.

That's about it for now, thank you.

Next time we'll be looking forward to a number of other notable recording sessions over the next few weeks - recording with Toppie Smellie on Saturday the 9th September, for instance and returning to Radio Wey with Tim and Nathan on Saturday 16th September and then my 30th anniversary trip to Lille with Harry F the following weekend... It's all go - but that's all for now...

Take care - more soon,

Yeti hugs,

Paul (aka Shy Yeti) xx

BACK IN BRAITHWAITE...

INTRODUCING THE PODCAST TO DERWENTWATER...

Hello beasties!

This week we're in the Lake District!! More about that in a minute...

Of course, even when I'm on holiday I don't take a break from recording and editing; why would I? It's my idea of fun! I finished episode 100, as you saw in the previous post, during the first few days of the trip and then moved on to the next three episodes, as follows during the rest of my time off:

THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 101: MY FAMILY AND OTHER YETI...

Here we are for episode ONE HUNDRED AND ONE - where this time we return to Mr Yeti's home town of Salisbury to catch up with some of his family at the same time as Alena, his niece, is visiting over from America. Alena encounters the regulars, answers some random questions and also investigates Mr Yeti's Harry Potter credentials. This episode we also chat with Nick G about some of the adventures from the early days of their friendship - and, of course, there are also poems. Thanks to all who took part in this edition of the show! Our next episode, number 102 - features an interview with a familiar name from Pride48, but you'll have to wait and see who that might be! Do join us, won't you? It'll be fun! Please email me at shyyeti@yahoo.co.uk if you have any comments - you can even send me a sound-file and I'll include it on the show. The music is by Shy Yeti and Luca. All content of this episode is Copyright Paul Chandler, 2017.  Episode 101 was recorded between the 6th May and 21st August 2017.

This episode can be downloaded on iTunes, Acast, Podbean and also from Soundcloud at the following link:

I hope you enjoy the episode! You'll get to hear my mum, dad, brother and niece all in one episode! Oh, and Nick, of course - and he's honorary family! :) I've also released another episode...

THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 102: CAUSING A HULLABALOO - WITH BABALOO!!

Here we are for episode ONE HUNDRED AND TWO - where this time we listen into a chat between Mr Yeti and Pride48's Babaloo! There are also poems and we hear from some of the regulars; Aunt Tappie is also hoping to connect with Ikk! I was determined to get a live episode out in August, as I'd been away the week before when I was supposed to do my show! It was good to get on the stream and catch up with some of the listeners!

Right, time to tell you more about my week in the lovely Lake District!!

Friday 18th August 2017

Well, our journey up to Braithwaite wasn't ideal - mainly due to the train between Euston and Penrith being packed and despite having paid £120 return per person we'd still not been designated an exact seat and ended up sitting on two mini seats in a corridor by a smelly toilet. Well done, Virgin Trains! Thanks for that. Thankfully our buses to Braithwaite via Keswick were more comfortable and well-timed. We didn't do much once we'd arrived - just had dinner and watched some TV, Michael Palin's 80 Days Around The World, and the 70s detective show, Jason King. As I watched I worked on Episode 100 of the podcast, whilst Toby retired for an early night.

Saturday 19th August 2017

We didn't go very far today - well, into a rainy Keswick to WHSMITHS to buy postcards and BOOTHS to get food; but that was about it. We'd have stayed longer - but it was busy and wet and so our enthusiasm was quite literally dampened. I did record a little for our Lake District episode of the podcast - which unlike the Scottish episode will be recorded out of order to make it less of an diary and more of an actual story. I was able - not without some considerable effort due to the poor internet quality - to get episode 100 completed, loaded up and released by the evening and so our anniversary show was finally out there, less than 15 months since the pilot episode was released. The rest of the evening was spent watching movies, namely Mr Holmes (which was new to me and which I thoroughly enjoyed) and Absolutely Fabulous - The Movie (one of the few films that I've seen at the cinema in the last couple of years.)

Sunday 20th August 2017

Today we were quite the action men; at least compared to Saturday! We caught the bus into Keswick and then headed for Derwentwater (the lake) and took the boat around to Lodore Falls. We had planned to visit them - but the path to them was closed and the re-directioned route went out of the way by 20 minutes or so; and so we headed on around the lake instead. We stopped for lunch just short of the landing stage at High Brandelhow - watching dogs swimming in the water; I also recorded a section of the podcast before we headed on. I had intended that we'd catch the launch again at Low Brandelhow but, despite there being no warning hat we had seen anyway - Low Brandelhow landing stage was in a state of disrepair (literally not connected to the land!) Quite how that had occurred, I'm not sure... Had a boat backed into it? Had - as our podcast humorously theorises - Nessie knocked it over in a fit of pique? At any rate - it meant we had to walk on to Hawes End, which wasn't too much further - but we missed the launch we'd hoped to catch and ended up going the long way back to Keswick. After picking up more shopping we caught the bus back to Braithwaite and spent the evening watching films - Ghostbusters (2016) and the first half of Alien (1979). I also watched more of the 70s show, Thriller (Double Kill) whilst working on the next podcast episode.

Monday 21st August 2017

Today we decided to stay closer to home - so I watched some more Thriller and started working on episode 101. Just before lunch I headed up to a quiet spot in the gardens and recorded slightly short of 30 minutes worth of voices to dub over the sounds that I recorded when we were on the lake yesterday. Other than that it was a pretty quiet day...

Tuesday 22nd August 2017

Today we headed for Carlisle, via Penrith! Quite a journey too! Buses and train trips all over the place... When we got there it was really busy and also muggy and so all we did was have lunch in Marks And Spencer and buy food for dinner - plus a quick stop at HMV to buy a DVD each. We caught the train back to Penrith only a couple of hours after we'd arrived (we'd both done most of the main tourist sights, castle etc on previous visits) and were back in Braithwaite (via two buses) a good while before dinner. I took the chance, once again, to record more voices for the beginning of my Lake District episode - as well as recording voices to insert during my next live episode on Sunday 27th August; not to mention recording messages for future Big Fatty Online, Vera Speaks For Real and Tastes Like Burning episodes. After dinner I had an early night for a change.

Wednesday 23rd August 2017

Today I headed out on a solo mission - taking the number 77 bus (or was it the 77A!?) up the Whinlatter Pass via Buttermere. I wasn't 100% sure what my intentions were or if I was even going to get off the bus at Buttermere as it didn't look like there was much there. Thankfully I did get off and followed other walkers down to a path which quickly led down to the lake at Buttermere. I took plenty of new photos - most of which I will probably set aside for use when I eventually post the Lake District episode; although you may see some of them on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook if you follow me before that episode is released. The weather was mainly sunny, slightly overcast but it was a very good location for eating lunch and podcasting. As I hadn't expected to have the time to record I came up with an additional scene to include in my Lake District episode - a flashback to the time that I met a friendly spook called Francis, The Ghost Of Buttermere. I didn't really have the time nor energy to do a lap of the lake - so just fed the invisible ducks (I had bread, there were no ducks - but I still threw the bread into the stream - hoping it would reach them eventually!) I took a look at the waterfall before heading back to the cafe and the bus stop. I had planned to have tea and an ice cream, but due to indecisive customers ended up only having time for tea before the bus came. Never mind though - I did have time to get a Victoria Sponge for Toby and I when I had to change buses at Keswick briefly. The home journey from Buttermere was very dramatic - travelling up over The Catbells and along the side of Derwentwater that we had walked along earlier in the week, although much higher up and therefore with different views. I also had company in the form of newly downloaded podcasts from Pride48's Big Fatty and Adam Burns - not to mentioning listening to the latest edition of Round The Archives, my friend Lisa and Trowby's podcast about cult tv; which I was also on talking about the TV show, Bergerac! I was home by about 3 - but it all felt like quite a busy day and there was plenty of time to give mum a bell, catch up with some editing and then watch films with Toby over dinner.

Thursday 24th August 2017

We didn't go far - but I did finish episode 101 which was an episode that I recorded with my niece and family back in late July. The episode also includes conversations between Nick Goodman and myself about the early days of our friendship; recorded earlier in the summer.

Friday 25th August 2017

Friday was going home day and we headed off early, so nothing to report - other than a long journey; but we were back by mid-afternoon as we took an earlier than intended train which ran without delay. Once home I began editing again (of course I did!) Moving on to episode 102, editing the sketches that I'd recorded for other shows and also preparing for my next live show on Sunday...

Here are some photos from the trip - most of these were taken in the first couple of days and are either of Braithwaite, where we stayed - or of our walk around Derwentwater...

We also met our old friend Mystery Hen who we first encountered up here about four years ago and who inspired a poem in me; only he (shouldn't it be "she", now I'm not sure!) has had a make-over and is now made of pottery... Apparently he no longer solves crimes, merely clucks.

This bench became my favourite place to record voices to over-dub on sounds that I'd recorded on our troubles... I sat up here on Monday and Tuesday evenings before dinner just talking to myself (well, recording it for the podcast) and there was a lovely view to be had from up there with only a minimum of scrambling up slopes.

Next time we'll be... Actually, I'm not 100 percent sure what we'll be up to next... I'm thinking of writing a new prose piece or something to go with whatever podcast chatter that I have in mind! Anyway, check back next week and I'm pretty sure there will be something!

That's all for now...

Take care - more soon,

Yeti hugs,

Paul (aka Shy Yeti) xx
